Apple is rumored to be working on a full-size smart HomePod and this speaker will also come with an LCD display. Apple discontinued the first-generation HomePod last year. According to photos surfaced on the internet, we can clearly see the LCD display, and many big tech giants have also covered that Apple might launch an upcoming HomePod with an LCD display.

Koustami, who is an Apple prototype collector, recently shared an image of an unreleased HomePod from Apple, and in that, there is a large screen sensor at the top. Then Koustami shared a photo of a prototype HomePod that has a fully functional LCD display on top. Koustami also released various prototypes, such as the MagSafe chargers and AirPods in different color options, and more.

According to reports from Apple Police, the HomePod with a large screen display will be fully functional. This display might show various information, like the song name, pause, and start, and we might even see the battery percentage.

Apple hasn’t said anything about the rumor until now, but many reports say that the B720 is an advanced-stage prototype, and the company will launch it in the future.

9to5Mac also verified these images, and they have confirmed these prototypes are codenamed B720. They also mention that Apple is currently working on and has experimented with it in the past. The outlet says that the code in tvOS 17 suggests that Apple Music and Apple Podcasts are the first apps being rewritten to be compatible with the new display. The screen could also potentially show important notifications.

According to reports, Gurman previously predicted in 2021 that Apple is working on its new generation HomePod with a display and camera. Earlier this year, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claimed Apple plans to release a redesigned HomePod with a 7-inch display in the first half of 2024.

As we said earlier, this is just a prototype and Apple could scrap it at any time. However, it has the potential to become a next-generation HomePod. It depends on Apple whether to launch it or not.
